MARDAN At least two persons were killed and one was injured by security forces for violating curfew at the main bazaar in Harichand here on Sunday, sources said.

They said that two civilians were identified as Ilyas Mehmood and Izaz Khan.

Another civilian Umar Gul sustained injuries in the firing. The injured was rushed to hospital. Both Ilyas and Izaz were residents of Hatyan and Qutab Garh villages respectively.

SIX HELD Police claimed to have arrested six militants during an operation in Hatyan and Lund Khwar areas.

The arrested militants were handed over to security forces for further interrogation, police added.

Police said that three militants were arrested from Karimabad village and three from a government high school in Hatyan. Three militants arrested from the house of Maghmoom in Karimabad were identified as Javed and Ziarat Khan of Swat and Mohammad Salih of Dir. The names of three other arrested from the school could not be ascertained.
