Urs of Bedil begins

SUKKUR, Nov 3 The 141st annual Urs celebrations of sufi saint Qadir Bux Bedil started at his shrine in Rohri on Tuesday. A large number of devotees from all over the country are participating in the three-day celebrations.

Sukkur District Nazim Syed Nasir Hussain Shah inaugurated the urs celebrations by laying a wreath on the shrine of Bedil. The nazim also attended Mehfil-i-Samaa, which was presented by sufi fakirs and announced a reward of Rs10,000 for them.

Other events of the urs include mushaira and literary conference. Residents of Rohri and its allied areas arrange “Langar” ( free food) for the devotees, which is provided to them during the three-day celebrations.

In his message on the occasion, the nazim said Sufi saints always gave the message of peace, brotherhood and love.

He said their message was a tower of light and guidance for the entire humanity and urged the people to spread it.
