KARACHI, March 20: In the unfolding of events, Pakistani forces are fully prepared to meet any eventuality, the chief of the naval staff, stated here on Thursday.

Talking to Dawn at the Bahria Institute of Management and Computer Science, the CNS, Admiral Shahid Karimullah, said that Pakistan Navy had no indulgence in the US-led war against Iraq, which broke out early Thursday morning.

“We have no participation in it, but at the same time are ready to foil adventurism from any direction”, he said, adding that Pakistan Navy was fully alert and prepared to thwart any attack on Pakistan, particularly from the eastern side.

“Pakistan Navy would take no time to react, if any one in the garb of terrorism tried to assault on Pakistan’s territory”.

Since sea war is considered a matter of very few days, PN can not lower its guards, he pointed out with a firmness, without naming India, that Pakistan Navy had already taken all preparations on the eastern side.

He said as far as the oil stocks were concerned, there was a nationwide one-month plus reserves, while in the case of navy, it was much more than one month. He hoped that oil supply to countries would not be affected due to US-Iraq war.

To a question, he said that in view of the capabilities of the two sides, i.e. US-lead coalition and Iraq, he could say that the war would not prolong. It would be a short duration war, he mentioned.
