KARACHI, March 17: Hindus celebrated the annual festival of colour — Holi — in the city, like everywhere else in the world, on Monday.

The festival is celebrated to mark the victory of truth over evil. From the morning youngsters visit their elder relations’ places and throw colour on them. Friends also visit friends and play with colour during the day.

Special congregations were held at temples. The central congregation was held at Swami Narayan Temple on M. A. Jinnah Road in the evening.

Religious leaders in their sermons highlighted the importance of the occasion. Bhajans, religious hymns, were also sung. Special prayers were also held for the solidarity, integrity and prosperity of the people. Langar, free food, was distributed among devotees.

Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad has congratulated the Hindu community on the occasion of Holi festival. Chief Minister Ali Mohammed Mahar has also congratulated the Hindu community on the occasion of Holi.
