KARACHI, March 12: A woman killed her infant son in Jamshed Quarters late Tuesday night.

Nausheen allegedly throttled her infant son Shiraz, aged 1 1/2 months, at her house in Jamshed Quarters.

The police said that after a quarrel with her husband, Shaukat, Nausheen throttled her baby when he started crying. Someone from the neighbourhood informed the police on phone No 15 of the incident. When the police reached the spot they found the baby dead and his parents in a state of shock.

The police took the parents into custody.

The body was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

The police said that Nausheen was suffering from mental illness and doctors were examining her. She had been admitted to a private hospital for treatment, the police said.

However, the family says the couple, during their quarrel, fell on the baby which resulted in his instant death.
