KHAIRPUR, March 11: The Ali Bahar Canal developed a 40-foot wide breach at Machhi Minor near Thari Mirwah on Monday night as a result Lund Jamrao and Rajpar villages were inundated.

The villagers informed the area people about the breach through loud speakers.

Later, the villagers and the irrigation employees plugged the breach on Tuesday.

The breach water caused damage to standing wheat, rice, barley and other crops.

The villagers alleged that the breach was a result of negligence of the irrigation officials.

DEMO: A large number of the Pakistan People’s Party activists held a demonstration in Thari Mirwah against delay in arrest of the killers of three PPP voters who were killed during the by-election.

The protesters warned that they would continue their protest till the arrest of the accused of killing Mehar Ali, Karam Ali and Rahib Ali.

The protesters also observed a token hunger strike for about an hour.

KIDNAPPING CASE: The Ahmedpur police have arrested 14 suspects from different villages in the kidnapping case of Mohammad, Muneer Ahmed and Arbab Ahmed.
