KARACHI, March 11: The Consul General of Bahrain, Jameel Abdul Wahab Abdul Salam, called on the Chief Minister, Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Mahar, at CM House here on Tuesday and discussed matters of mutual interest.
Mr Mahar told him that Sindh was rich in cultural heritage and historical sites and that the provincial government had been making efforts to promote tourism for which historical monuments of Moenjodaro, Kot Diji, Makli, Rani Kot and other spots. These sites, he added, would be upgraded further and looked after properly.
The CM pointed out that coastal highway was being developed and new parks built. He also referred to various other measures aimed at attracting tourists and foreign investors and said that there were bright prospects for tourism in Sindh. He especially made mention of the ongoing development schemes in Karachi. Gorakh Hill Resort, he said, was being developed in Dadu district and it would eventually become a recreation spot. An amount of Rs100 million had been released for roads, drinking water, parks, rest house, huts and other such facilities at the site, he added.
Bahrain Consul General said that the people of his country would feel happy to invest in Pakistan.
CHINA: The Consul General of China, Sun Chenye, also called on the CM and discussed matters of mutual interest. The CM told him that China was one of the best friends of Pakistan and both the countries enjoyed cordial and brotherly relations.
He appreciated China’s efforts and participation in Pakistan’s development and particularly referred to its contribution to the excavation of Thar coal reservoirs. He acknowledged that a Chinese delegation would be visiting Sindh later this month.
Mr Mahar informed him that the schemes and projects initiated during the previous government’s tenure would be completed by the present government and that the mega projects, like Lyari Bypass, would also be completed within the stipulated time.
Mr Sun Chenye assured the CM that his country would extend full cooperation in the economic uplift of Pakistan.
Mr Mahar also assured him that Chinese investors would be provided maximum possible facilities in Sindh.
Later, he presented traditional gifts of Ajrak and Sindhi Cap to the Chinese consul general.—PPI
