Published October 11, 2001

KARACHI, Oct 10: An explosion rocked a church and its adjoining area on Nishtar Road, on Wednesday night. No casualty was reported.

The explosion occurred at one of the gates of the church compound, which is located adjacent to the Christ Church on the Mission Road. The residents of the compound said they heard a deafening sound of the blast that damaged the gate. However, no one was reported injured.

The police believed someone had tossed a power cracker, which damaged the gate.

The bomb disposal squad was not informed about the incident. “How can we reach the spot unless we are not informed by the police control or by any authority,” said an official in the bomb disposal squad.
