THIS is to appeal to the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the authorities concerned to take notice of a gruesome incident that took place in Jacobabad. Dr Farzana Brohi, a young lady doctor from Jacobababd, had to pay a huge price for securing the right to divorce when her former husband killed her young brother and injured her in a attack on them.

Recently the former husband of Dr Brohi entered her clinic and opened fire which hit her hand and when her brother Wazir Brohi came to her rescue, he received bullet injuries.

After firing at them, the attacker took away with him their two minor children, three-year-old Iqra and one-year-old Zam Zam.

The attacker was accompanied by two of his brothers. Later on Wazir, Farzana's young brother, died in a hospital in Larkana, succumbing to bullet injuries.

Dr Brohi had married three years ago but later her husband had made it clear to her that he wanted her to be confined to the four walls. However, he relied on Dr Brohi's earnings as he did nothing but guard her clinic and grabbed all the money she earned.

Last year Dr Brohi was able to secure divorce through a court after which the ex-husband had been intimidating her.

Dr Brohi is one of the few lady doctors in the city where healthcare facilities, particularly for women, are dismal.

She has chosen to open a gynaecology clinic in her hometown Jacobabad instead of practising in big cities like Karachi or Larkana.

This incident has sent shock waves among the area's young inspiring female students wanting to establish an identity of their own.

Despite the fact that a case has been lodged against the culprits, the police have done nothing to either arrest the criminals or recover the minor children of Dr Brohi, one of whom is still a breast-feeding child.

Dr Brohi, through the media, has appealed to the authorities to arrest her ex-husband and ensure recovery of her children.
