QI downloaded antivirus AVG (8.5) as you recommended from www.free.grisoft.com. The problem is that it asks me to update the software every time I turn on my PC. Is there any solution?
I am using HP laptop Core2duo 2.0GHz processor, 3GB Ram and 160GB hard disk; my original antivirus Norton is going to expire in few days, what to do with it now?
AThe free version only gives you one auto update option. You set a time and if your PC is not 'on' at that time then it will update as soon as you log on. Personally, I find it preferable to just update it myself daily (it's not really that much to remember).
To turn off auto-updates Go the AVG Control centre and go to Tools > Advanced Settings > Update.
Do know, however, that it is worth updating daily. AVG does not offer the best heuristic detection out there and its strength is in its database, so it is best to keep it as up to date as possible.
QI have Win XP Professional on my Compaq P4 and Intel Celeron (R) CPU 1.70GHz, 248MB of Ram. The problem is that my PC works very slowly; no matter what I do, it does it at a snail's pace. I have installed Windows many times with which it ran smooth but that only for six to seven days. Please suggest how I can solve this problem.
AThe main problem is with your Ram and most probably (the lack of) a video card. You require a minimum of a 32 MB graphics memory and the least 512 MB system Ram, if you want to run XP, half decently, 1GB is recommended. You will have to upgrade your system if you want XP to run smoothly.
QI want to purchase a Core 2 Quad or Quad Core computer with 1GB Ram, 160 SATA II, normal or good motherboard with combo drive.
1. Can you please tell me the price of motherboard?
2. What are the system requirements for Call of Duty 2?
3. I want to send a software to my cousin of about 56MB, how can I send it?
A1. I am not sure why you would want a Quad Core system, unless you are heavily into animation or gaming, however, the cheapest Intel Quad Core Processor is currently the Intel CORE 2 Quad Q8200 2.33Ghz (4MB Cache - 1333 MHZ FSB) for Rs14,500. While the most expensive which I know of is the Intel Xeon Quad Core E5430 2.66 GHZ (12MB Cache - 1333MHZ FSB) for Rs45, 500. You can also take a look at the Intel Core i7 920 2.66 GHz (8MB Cache) for Rs24,800.
For a good motherboard, try the EVGA X58i which supports three-way SLi. This is for Rs28,000 or if you would like to stick to Intel try the DX58SO (LGA1366/1600/333/1066 MHZ FSB with DDRIII) especially if you would like a Core i7 system. This one will set you back Rs20,500. For a reasonably good motherboard, try the XFX 750i which supports 2 Way SLi for Rs12,000.
2. The minimum specs for COD2 are
— 3D Hardware Accelerator Card - 100 per cent DirectX® 9.0c compatible with 64MB onboard Ram and the latest drivers.
— Pentium® IV 1.4GHz or AMD AthlonT XP 1700+ — 256 MB Ram (512 MB Ram recommended) — 4.0GB of uncompressed free hard disk space (plus 600MB for Windows® 2000/XP swap file)
3. Try www.yousendit.com. YouSendIt is a web-based digital content delivery service. It lets users send, receive and track files on-demand. The sender can enter the recipients' e-mail addresses, attach the file and send it; the recipients receive an e-mail notification with a URL that lets them download the file. It is simple and best of all it is free. Plus it is a great alternative to using FTP, sending CDs or DVDs or USB flash drive via courier. You can send up to 100MB sized file.
QI want to download latest Version of Google Earth, with 3D mapping including under Oceans. Can you tell me from where can I get it? Also, please tell me how can install Maya software?
AYou can download Google Earth from http//earth.google.com/ocean/ 2. At a minimum, the 32-bit version of Maya 2009 software requires a system with the following hardware
Windows Intel® Pentium® 4 or higher, AMD Athlon® 64, or AMD Opteron® processor; 2 GB Ram; 2 GB free hard drive space; Qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL® graphics card;
Three-button mouse with mouse driver software; DVD-Rom drive.
QI have 256KB DSL connection. The problem is that whenever I try to download torrents using Utorrent, the downloading never starts. It remains 0kbps and the availability bar remains red. My OS is Windows XP. Also, I am unable to use Opera or update antivirus like AVG.
AI recommend you try a different torrent client from whichever one you are using. I would recommend Utorrent (www.utorrent.com) or Azueus Vuze (azureus.sourceforge.net/). Both are the best in terms of getting fast speeds. Also, check your Windows Firewall and/or Internet Security Suite Firewall (if you are using one) to make sure that the application is not being blocked.
Also when downloading torrent, check for the number of seeds displayed for that particular torrent, the more seeds the faster it will go. Visit, for example, www.thepiratebay.org or www.btmon.com and find or download any of the torrents for five minutes (the ones with plenty of seeds) and if you are getting a good speed, then the torrent you chose doesn't have enough seeders.
Also, do not cap your upload speed otherwise some torrent sites/programmes will not download as fast as they could. Your upload speed should be 80 per cent of your connection's speed.
2. Not port forwarding correctly for which you should visit portforward.com 3. Blocking UDP tracker info for which you should check your firewall if you have one.
4. Problem connecting to Tracker such as timeout exceeded, HTTP Error 503 Connect failed, [Errno socket error] (10061, 'Connection refused') or (111, 'Connection refused') for which you should find another torrent.
Also check your system for viruses using PrevX Edge (www.prevx.com). It could be just a trojan that is causing this problem. I will also recommend you switch from AVG to Avira Antivirus (www.avira.com/). This antivirus is performing better than AVG this year.
A prolonged conflict will have far-reaching implications for regional geopolitics, sharpening the divisions among Gulf countries that are directly affected by the tensions.
Every day that passes without clarity on how and when the war will end introduces fresh intensity to the uncertainty roiling global markets and adds to the economic turmoil the world must bear because of it.
