KARACHI, March 6: DCO Mir Hussain Ali on Thursday visited various areas of the city to review the arrangements made for provision of electricity, water and cleanliness around Imambargahs and places of Majalis.

He visited North Karachi, North Nazimabad and Federal B. Area and directed the officials to ensure that these arrangements are fully maintained during Muharram.

During his visit to under-construction Nagan Chowrangi, Water Pump, 5-Star Chowrangi, Guru Mandir Chowrangi and other schemes, he took notice of slow pace of work and issued directives for expediting the work.

He took notice of poor sanitary conditions at certain places, particularly presence of garbage dumps at 4000-road (4000-road) in New Karachi and other important roads.

He directed the TMOs to improve the sanitary conditions and also talked to the area people who told him that no attention was being given to cleanliness in the area and roads were in a state of disrepair.

Mr Ali directed the EDO Works to take immediate steps for the repair of Road-4000. He also called for preparation of plan for repair and improvement of Shahrah Parveen Shakir in New Karachi.

The DCO asked the chief engineer, sewerage, to devise a new sewerage system for the area on the main road connecting Masjid Ale Mohammad in New Karachi as the area storm-water drain was being used as sewage nullah.

During visit to Gulberg Town, the Nazim Farooq Naimatullah briefed the DCO about efforts being made for cleanliness. He took him to a visit to Family Park developed at a cost of Rs 3.5 million.—APP
