Indian firing injures one in AJK

MUZAFFARABAD, Oct 27 Indian forces on Wednesday fired at Pakistani civilians across the de-facto border dividing Kashmir, injuring one person, Pakistani officials said.

“Indian troops fired machine gun at civilians in Battal sector in violation of ceasefire on the Line of Control on Wednesday injuring one person,” Shehryar Khan, a senior local police official, said.

A senior military official confirmed the incident.

Pakistan and India agreed to a ceasefire in November 2003 along the LoC and launched slow-moving peace talks in 2004.

Since then, there have been sporadic small clashes with both sides accusing the other of violating the ceasefire. —AFP
