KARACHI, March 1: A young housewife committed suicide at her house in Orangi Town.

Naureen, aged 21, mother of two, consumed a heavy dose of poison late Friday night and began vomiting. When her condition deteriorated, her husband, Mushtaq, took her to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where she died.

The police said Naureen was married to Mushtaq some four years back and the couple had been living in Fareed Colony, Orangi. Often she had arguments with her husband, a schoolteacher, on domestic matters.

Mushtaq told the police that there was no apparent reason which led her to take the extreme step as arguments had become a routine in their domestic life.

SUICIDE ATTEMPT: A girl attempted to commit suicide by consuming a heavy dose of a pesticide in Ibrahim Hyderi.

The police said parents of Madiha Karim, aged 21, had arranged her marriage and it was to be solemnized on Sunday. The police quoted the family as saying that Madiha was not happy with this marriage proposal as she wanted to marry a man of her choice.

This caused her depression. On Saturday she consumed a heavy dose of a pesticide. She has been admitted to JPMC.
