ISLAMABAD, May 6 (APP) Minister for Finance, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar has called on President Asian Development Bank (ADB), Haruhiku Kuroda in Madrid along with Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar on the sideline of the 41st Annual Meeting of ADB Board of Governors.

 

 According to a message received here on Tuesday, the finance minister, who is also the governor for Pakistan in the ADB Board of Governors, apprised the ADB President about the economic road map of Pakistan for macro-economic stability to improve financial deficit.

 

 The ADB President appreciated all the actions taken by Pakistan government and assured that ADB would continue supporting Pakistan for its development agenda.

 

The finance minister took up the resolution of issues surrounding the ongoing capital market operations project, which had slowed down in the past. The matter was resolved and the project would soon be back on course.

 

 

Senator Ishaq Dar invited ADB President to visit Pakistan and thanked him for extending support of 200 million dollars, already released to Government of Pakistan. The amount will be followed by another US $ 450 million disbursement by the end of June this year.

 

 In another meeting, the finance minister, along with the governor state bank of Pakistan met the finance minister of China Mr. Xie. He invited his Chinese counterpart to visit Pakistan for the Joint Economic Commission. The Chinese finance minister accepted the invitation.

 

During the meeting, the possibility of financing water reservoir projects, especially Bhasha Dam also came under discussion. The Chinese finance minister reiterated his governments continued support for the newly elected government in its development efforts.
