LAHORE, Feb 9: Pakistan Awami Tehrik chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said on Sunday only the UN had the right to act against Iraq and Kofi Annan’s statement in this regard was welcome.

Talking to various delegations, he said, the United States’ unilateral action against Iraq would worsen the situation and land the world in another crisis.

As Iraq was cooperating with the UN inspectors by opening all its defence installations to them, any action against it would be regrettable, he said, adding the step would create unrest in the world.

PAT Senior Vice-Chairman Agha Murtaza Poya warned the US that its action against Iraq would intensify anti-US emotions among the masses across the world.

He stressed the need for solving the issue through the Security Council.
