PESHAWAR: Defying orders of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, three candidates of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) for National and provincial assemblies from Chitral Saturday announced to contest the coming general elections.

The APML candidates, Shahzada Iftikharuddin (NA-32), Shahzada Khalid Parvaiz (PK-89) and Ghulam Muhammad (PK-90), have announced to turn down the party high command’s decision of general elections boycott.

They said they will go for polls as the boycott was a conspiracy against the party chief.

The party had decided to not participate in the May 11 general elections citing rejection of Musharraf’s nomination papers from all four constituencies across the country.

Speaking at a press conference along with party workers in Chitral, the three candidates said that despite Chitral being an APML stronghold, the party’s central body had not bothered to consult them regarding the boycott. Upon which, they said they have decided to go for the polls and vowed to win also.

“We don’t even know, if Musharraf had given a go ahead for the boycott,” they said, adding that participating in the elections is the only way to show their trust and confidence in the former military ruler.
