LAHORE, Feb 3: Punjab will not surrender even a drop of its water to Sindh or any other province, irrigation and power minister Amir Sultan Cheema told the Punjab Assembly here on Monday.

In response to an adjournment motion, he said water supply to the province had been reduced by 34 per cent under a decision of the Indus River System Authority (IRSA).

Replying to another adjournment motion, agriculture minister Arshad Lodhi said wheat crop would not be affected by the water scarcity.

He said keeping in view reduced water supplies, the government had already prepared a contingency plan to meet the situation. Under the plan, he said, water would be released in the canal system of the province under a phased programme ensuring its maximum utilization according to the requirements of the wheat crop.
