KARACHI, Feb 3: The solitary member of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement in Sindh Assembly, Yunus Khan, who was arrested from the Sindh Assembly premises on Dec 14, was brought to the provincial legislature on Monday under heavy security from the Central Prison following Speaker’s indulgence on Monday.

The opposition had raised the issue during the last session and the Home Minister, Syed Sardar Ahmed, said he had no over the MQM-H legislator attending the proceedings. Accordingly, the Speaker asked the relevant authorities to facilitate Mr Khan’s presence.

When the session began, MQM-H member thanked the Speaker for his directives. He also spoke of his determination to fight for the cause of his supporters.

He apprised the House of the physical and mental agony he experienced due to the detention.

Yunus Khan, attired in shalwar kameez, regretted that about 1,500 people who had already completed their terms were still languishing in the jail. Demanding their immediate release, Mr Khan pointed out that those enjoying support from influential quarters had already been released. He named some of them as Mian Muneer, Mohammad Ali Mahar and Waqar Pagganwala.
