KARACHI, Feb 1: An alleged bandits was shot dead at Gole Market in Nazimabad on Saturday evening, in what the police claimed an encounter.

The police said two bandits entered a shop owned by Mehmood in Gole Market where Mehmood’s mother and sister were also present. The bandits snatched cash from Mehmood and jewellery from his mother and sister. As the bandits left the shop, Mehmood raised alarm. Policemen, deployed nearby, chased the bandits. An exchange of fire took place between the bandits and the police. One of the alleged bandits was killed in the exchange of fire.

His accomplice escaped.

The body was left at the spot for two hours as the police were waiting for their superiors.

The body was later sent to a hospital for autopsy, where the dead man had not been identified till our going to press.

ACCIDENT: A girl died in a road accident in Landhi on Saturday. The police said Ayesha, aged 10, was riding, with her brother, a motorcycle when a minibus hit the motorcycle.
