KARACHI, April 15: Nawabshah baked at 45 degrees Celsius on Monday while 300 kilometres away Karachi remained cooler at 37 degrees Celsius, said an official of the Pakistan meteorological department.

Weather in most parts of the province was expected to remain hot and dry on Tuesday as well, they added.

Talking to Dawn, a met department official said that after Nawabshah the second highest temperature was recorded in Sukkur, Padidan and Mithi towns where the mercury reached 43 degrees Celsius.

He said that the weather in the second biggest city of Sindh, Hyderabad, changed only by one degree Celsius since Sunday, reading at 42 degrees on Monday.

However, “morning section” of the met department’s website, which was updated at 10am on Monday showed maximum temperature recorded in the past 24 hours (Sunday) to be 32 degrees Celsius — a difference of nine degrees in the figures on the website and the ones told by the met department official from Karachi.

Meanwhile, other towns in Sindh to face the wrath of summer on Monday included Jacobabad and Larkana, both at 42 degrees Celsius, while Badin stayed at 40 degrees Celsius.

In Karachi, said the met official, the maximum temperature recorded on Monday was 37 degrees Celsius, minimum 24 degrees Celsius, while humidity was recorded at 43 per cent. He said that the weather in Karachi was expected to remain dry and partly cloudy on Tuesday while temperature range was expected to be from 24 to 22 degrees Celsius.
