ZTBL spun out by Farooq, Adnan

KARACHI, Jan 28: Little known Faisalabad spinning duo of Farooq Iqbal and Adnan Rasool shared all 10 wickets between them to bundle out Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) for 173 in their Quaid-i-Azam Trophy quarterfinal at UBL Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Off-spinner Adnan Rasool grabbed 5-62 and slow left-armer Farooq Iqbal captured 5-63.

Faisalabad consolidated their grip by reaching 60 without loss to complete an excellent day. Zeeshan Asif (32) and Hasnain Haider (26) found no terror in the placid track during their 116-minute partnership.

ZTBL started well by reaching 73 for two with opener Inam-ul-Haq making a patient 38 in 159 minutes and Raheel Majeed 21.

But after the departure of both openers, Adnan and Farooq caused havoc as ZTBL subsided to 173 all out just before the tea interval.

Adnan, playing just his second first-class match, started the rot by picking up three wickets in 11 balls, getting rid of Inam, Hafiz Majid and Faisal Naveed.

Only Zahoor Elahi, the former Pakistan batsman, batted with authority. He top-scored with 48, striking six boundaries.
