LAHORE: Caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi will form his cabinet within two to three days which will comprise five to six ministers.

He told reporters after a meeting with Jamaat-i-Islami leaders here on Thursday that a couple of more inductions (into the cabinet) could be made if required. He said all members would be apolitical.

He said it was difficult to follow the Election Commission’s code of conduct but he would assist the ECP in implementing the main articles of the Constitution, sections and clauses of relevant rules.

He also said the JI leadership had given him certain proposals in connection with holding transparent elections by following the articles 62 and 63 and other election-related rules.

About his visit to JI headquarters, he said it was part of his plan of consulting political leaders for holding transparent elections and making a neutral administration.

He told a questioner that a decision regarding a permanent inspector general of police in Punjab was being made.

He said the Chief Election Commissioner had allowed him to reshuffle the provincial bureaucracy and hoped that the job would be done within a week.

Mr Sethi also visited PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif in Model Town and PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat and Pervaiz Elahi in Gulberg.

He would meet PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Friday (today).

The Q League leaders told the media after the visit that they had demanded replacement of all top bureaucrats as the present administration was not impartial.
