LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry called for a whole new methodology to increase Pakistan's exports to Kuwait on Wednesday.

Chamber's President Farooq Iftikhar stated this during a conversation with Ambassador-designate to Kuwait, Syed Abrar Hussain at the LCCI building.

While assuring his full support to the ambassador, he said Kuwait has a marvellous potential for Halal Food products and a little attention towards this particular sector could give a quantum jump to Pakistan's exports.

Local exports to all the Muslim countries, he added, were very small as compared to their respective potential, so Pakistan would have to go an extra mile to enhance bilateral trade relations in these countries.

The president also urged the ambassador to play his role proactively for the dissemination of trade related information as a lot of business opportunities often go out of hand because they could not reach the right people. The exchange of trade delegations is an important tool to strengthen bilateral relations, therefore, the Embassy in Kuwait should convince Kuwaiti businessmen for a visit to Pakistan, he maintained.

Iftikhar also encourages Kuwaiti businessmen to initiate ventures in the solar energy, coal mines and rice sector, hoping that Kuwaiti investment in the country could reap lucrative results for the economy of Pakistan.

But Ambassador-designate to Kuwait Syed Abrar Hussain felt that Pakistani businessmen would have to first look into the important quality issues which concern international buyers the most.
