KARACHI, Jan 27: A large number of handicapped children enjoyed ‘food-and-fun’ at a city restaurant.

The children from the Ida Rieu School and College for the Deaf and Blind, Darul Sukoon, Darul Khushnood, Madawa Welfare Society, Prewa and Burhani Blood Bank participated in the event, organized by Jimmy Engineer.

Speaking on the occasion, artist Jimmy Engineer said the parents should not hide their special children, but they should be taken out more often and allowed to mingle with normal children so that shyness or barrier between them could be overcome.

He urged the philanthropists to come forward and assist the institutes working for the welfare of the handicapped children.

Fawzia Siddiqui of the Sada Welfare Foundation distributed bags containing toffees, biscuits, etc., among children. Shakeel Ahmad of the Salt’n Pepper Food Court at the Dolmon Mall Tariq Road, also spoke.

On this occasion, children were invited to joy-rides in the next-door play area.
