LAHORE: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan Thursday appeared before District Returning Officer (DRO) Lahore Nazir Ahmad Gujana and received notice for violating code of conduct set by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

However, the DRO exempted Imran Khan from appearing personally in next hearing on May 4.

The monitoring teams informed the DRO that the PTI chief and Aleem Khan held a rally on the Mall without acquiring the required permission.

Later, the DIG operations submitted a complaint in the DRO’s office contending that police had received reports from the Civil Lines SP and the District Security Branch that on April 20, around 2,500 members of the PTI, led by PTI leaders, gathered on the Mall and started a rally which obstructed traffic on one side of the main route. After which, notices were issued to them.

Later talking to the media, Imran Khan said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was afraid of the PTI to such an extent that they started personal attacks on him in the election campaign.

He said that efforts were made to associate him with Jewish lobby. His ex-wife was alleged to be Jew whereas she was a Christian, adding that allegation of relations with Sita White were also proved false.

Khan said that he was named “Taliban Khan” as he spoke of dialogue with Taliban but now all powers including America were talking of holding dialogue with Taliban.
