LAHORE, Nov 25: Shah Qublai Alam scored three goals, including the decisive one during the fifth chukker, to give Lahore Chatkhara Blacks a narrow 6-5 win over Millat Tractors in the final of the Lt Col S H Rizvi memorial polo tournament at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Sunday.
Both the teams were tied at 5-5 at the end of the stipulated fourth chukker and the match had to be extended to the fifth chukker (sudden-death period) in which Qublai scored the match-winner on a 60 yards penalty hit.
Mayfair claimed third position by defeating Amin & Company by a wide margin of 7-3 1/2. Malik Asif Yar Tiwana struck thrice for the winning side while Rashid Ali Baig scored two and Babar Monnoo and Ahmad Ali Tiwana scored one goal each. Amin & Company had an advantage of half-a- goal on the handicap and all its three goals were scored by Ahmad Nawaz Tiwan, which constituted a hat-trick.
LDA director-general Ismail Qureshi gave away the prizes.
Millat Tractors started well by dominating the first chukker with both the field goals. Jamal Iftikhar put in the opener, which was his only goal of the match. Tiwana scored first of his three goals.
During the second chukker, Lahore Chatkhara Blacks quartet was seen all over the place and scored all the four field goals. Qublai put in first and fourth goal of the second chukker. Bilal Haye scored first of his two goals. Kamran Nooruddin also struck his only goal of the match. Lahore Chatkhara Blacks led 4-2 at the end of the second chukker.
Both the sides scored a goal, each during the third chukker. Thus Chatkhara side led 5-3. Bilal Haye scored his second and his team’s fifth goal on a field effort. But Atif scored his second and Millat Tractors’ third goal to make the score 3-5.
Millat Tractors scored both the goals of the fourth chukker to draw level at 5-5. Atif converted a spot penalty near the goalpost to put in his third and Millat Tractors:s fourth goal while Raja Amer put in his only and Millat Tractors’ fifth goal on a field effort.
In order to decide the final, the goalposts had to be widened and the game extended to the fifth chukker in which Qublai scored to separate the two teams.

During the subsidiary final, Babar Monnoo opened the scoring by putting in his only goal on a field effort for Mayfair. Malik Asif Yar Tiwana scored on a 60 yards penalty-hit before the first chukker concluded.
At start of the second chukker, Asif scored on another 60 yards penalty-hit. Rashid Ali Baig scored first of his two field goals to increase Mayfair’s lead. Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana scored two back-to-back goals to reduce the margin for Amin & Company to 2 1/2-4. Ahmad Nawaz scored a field goal and thereafter, converted a 40 yards penalty-hit.
The only goal of the third chukker was put in by Ahmad Ali Tiwana for Mayfair, who crowned a field effort to make the score 5-3 1/2.
During the fourth chukker, Asif scored his third and Mayfair’s sixth goal on a field effort and Rashid Ali Baig put in his second goal of the match to take Mayfair’s tally to seven goals. Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana converted a 30 yards penalty-hit for Amin & Company which also completed his hat-trick.
