Musharraf hopeful ‘ordeal’ will end in few weeks

ISLAMABAD: Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf is hopeful that his ordeal will end in few weeks time and he will be granted bail in all the three cases, his counsel Barrister Salman Safdar told Dawn.Com on Wednesday.

Musharraf is currently under house arrest at his Islamabad farm house residence after cancellation of bail in the judges’ detention case.

His bail petition in the Benazir Bhutto murder case was also dismissed by a division bench of the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi registry earlier in the day.

Recalling his meeting with the former military strongman, his counsel said that Musharraf is very confident and took active part in discussions regarding the cases.

Safdar said that quality of evidence in these cases cannot stand before any court of law if fair investigation is done and justice is delivered to the former president. “The Interpol had already termed the evidence against Musharraf insufficient when the previous government issued red-warrants for the former president when he was out of the country. So I am sure that his ordeal will end in few weeks and he will be able to pursue his political career,” the lawyer said.

He also denied reports that Pervez Musharraf wants to leave the country. “Musharraf knew before coming to Pakistan that he was wanted in BB case, Akber Bugti case and Judges’ case. So to say that he is disturbed is not correct at all,” said Barrister Salman Safdar.

If this Pervez Musharraf is gone, there will be hundreds more new Pervez Musharrafs to bring about positive revolution in Pakistan by wiping out militancy, terrorism, corruption in all government branches except military which is so far excellent and trust worthy. All branches of government including judiciary appear to have lost trust.

Haider Ali did you born yesterday? he let people to ask tough questions no previous president or PM has ever let that. If you hear his interviews and in public forum you will know that. Did any of the leader did that? Now Imran Khan is following on Musharraf's footstep and he even hijacked Musharraf's youth votes. If Musharraf has come at that time when he formed the party all the youth were with him. Why he cant come everybody knows.

Musharraf has filed an appeal to be allowed to visit his old mother at Dubai. But he did not allow the couped-out elected Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif even to attend the funeral and last rituals of his father late Mohammad Sharif. May God bless his soul in peace. Aameen. Musharraf is enjoying the luxury and comfort of his own princely Villa but the elected Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after his deposition at the point of gun was flown away to Landhi Jail, Karachi and humiliated like a 3rd degree criminal. Is this not double standard of justice for civilian and uniformed citizens?

You forget the correct pronoun. First all poor people are not in jail and if they are because they committed crime because they were made to by the corrupt rich. In a welfare state you will not find poor people in jail but only those who few and far committed them.

If security agencies save him, that would be a lesson for the civil government, and if they could not save him then it will be a lesson for the army. Remember there aren't any mistakes in life, all are lessons. :)

General! We salute your courage and tolerance, you are a real general. Allah be willing everything is going to settle. I recommend that a full fledged case should be framed against the Chief for coaxing, enticing and alluring people to frame frivolous cases against youto take his revenge. His statement appeared in almost all newspapers, "Musharraf Sahib aa gai han, jiski himmat hai unse apna hisab le". A case should also be registered with GHQ to conduct a Court Marshal to decide as to how the Plan High jacking case (plan carrying the serving Army Chief was directed to land in India), against Nawaz was washed out. Secondly why the culprits involved in two murder attempts on you, were set free. Under the prevalent circumstances courts have become absolutely untrustworthy and all these major failures will multiply to make the credibility of Courts conspiratory and malicious.

I was in Pakistan during your presidency, and I saw development in all sectors and in all major cities without any discrimination. Specially in health, education and employment sectors the progress was magical. You came from Pak Military but you ruled like a democratic leader. Please do not go for the slogans, look at the past records of the politicians and decide for them selves.The country is broke after five years of democracy and is on life suport on IMf loans, twice in five years and the national debts is rising.Please note that when Musharraf was in power 1999-2008, Pakistan was one of the fastest growing country with 7% GDP growth, (Zaidi) the highest in the history of Pakistan with low deficit of 4.3%, low inflation of 6.6% for fy 01-08 and FDI of 5.4B$ (Nauman), with stable economy of 62 rupees to a dollars and reserve0f 16.4B$ in 2007 and got rid of IMF (SIR.A.Rasheed).Please compare this outsranding record with any govt in the last 65 years.

Look at other democratic countries.. whenever their is disaster army do not come to save the country... army is supposed to protect the constitution.. not to disrespect it..army is trained to do the border protection should never involve in running every day affairs..May Allah give us a sense as nation.. now PTI has good mandate.. why do we need army marsha law.. the reason is very simple we are had haram.. do not want to do our share of work we want some one just come from SKY and cleanup everything without nation doing it part..

Pervez Musharraf is the Soldier and have many qualities, InshaAllah he will prevail. To Judges and Lawyers the meaning of judiciary. 1. the judicial branch of government. 2. the system of courts of justice in a country. 3. judges collectively. adjective 4. pertaining to the judicial branch or system or to judges., Mr. Justice bring the true justice in your Country which Mr. Pervez Musharraf was trying to do, give others a chance to run the Court system who may do better job that you can.
