Major oil discovery in Sindh

Published January 25, 2003

ISLAMABAD, Jan 24: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has found another major hydrocarbon reserve in Sindh, sixth in a row in the same Sinjhoro block.

Inside sources said that all tests and necessary data analysis had been processed and the well was flowing normally. A formal announcement to this effect will be made on Saturday, most probably by the federal minister for petroleum and natural resources and the Sindh chief minister.

These sources said the well would produce more than 800 barrels of condensate per day and five million cubic feet per day (MMCFD). The well flowed at 51 API gravity which shows very high quality condensate.

The total production at Sinjhoro block in Sindh, where six wells have so far been successful over a period of six months, has now crossed 10,000 barrels of condensate per day and has further increased the prospectiveness of the area.
