KARAK, March 5: Former director general of Intelligence Bureau and member central executive committee of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf, Masood Sharif Khattak, has resigned from the basic membership of the party, saying that its leadership is not sincere with the slogan of change.

Talking to Dawn here on Tuesday, he alleged that horse-trading was done in the recent intra-party election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that the party’s central secretariat also played a role in bringing forward its favourite candidates for the provincial and district offices.

Mr Khattak said that he was attracted to the party by its slogan of change and claimed that during his association with the PTI its leadership failed to bring change within the party, which left him disappointed.

Mr Khattak criticised PTI chairman Imran Khan for, what he called, his indifferent attitude towards the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. About his plans for coming election, the former IB chief said that he would contest on a National Assembly seat from Karak as an independent candidate.

Police said that 10 people were injured when a passenger pick-up fell from a bridge in Teri area of Banda Daud Shah tehsil. They said that one of injured identified as Jehanzeb later died in civil hospital Teri.
