RAWALPINDI, Feb 21: The Anti-Narcotics Force foiled an attempt to smuggle 44.8 kilos of heroin to Africa by sea through an export consignment, the authorities said on Thursday.

An ANF spokesman said that the ANF had received information that some international drug smugglers would attempt to smuggle out a huge quantity of narcotics from Karachi.

In the light of the intelligence report, the ANF staff started surveillance of suspected containers at the international container terminal of the port.

During a search of a container, the staff recovered 44.8 kilos of heroin concealed in cartons of towels.

The ANF later registered a case and launched an investigation to track down the smugglers.
