KARACHI: Pakistan’s trade deficit fell by 12 per cent for the first seven months of the fiscal year 2012/13.

Pakistan’s trade deficit fell for the first seven months of the fiscal year 2012/13 (July-January) to $11.617 billion, compared with a deficit of $13.209 billion for the same period last year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics said.

Exports rose to $14.068 billion in (July-January) from $13.118 billion and imports eased to $25.68 billion from $26.32 billion.

On a monthly basis, the trade deficit fell to $1.740 billion in January from $1.703 billion the previous month.

Exports totaled $2.023 billion in January and imports were $3.763 billion.
