ISLAMABAD: Senator Haji Adeel of the Awami National Party (ANP) on Monday said all parties would have to get together in order to decide on a strategy for establishing peace and law and order in Pakistan, adding that terrorism was not a problem only for the ANP but for the entire country, DawnNews reported.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, the ANP senator said the deteriorating security situation in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) was also affecting other parts of the country.

He added that the All Parties Conference would help in reaching a conclusive decision on the issue of terrorism.

The senator said although the government had previously held talks with the militants and had even accepted their 'Nizam-i-Adl', it did not deter the insurgents from engaging in terrorism.

Adeel moreover claimed that more soldiers had died in the ‘war against terrorism’ than in the wars of 1965 and 1971.

The lawmaker said all political parties had made the collective decision to launch the operation in Swat.

He said all parties would have to get together in order to decide on establishing law and order in the country, adding that the ANP would contest the upcoming general elections on its slogan for peace.
