ISLAMABAD, Feb 2: Talha Zubair of Karachi clinched the Boys U-18 PTF Masters Junior title after beating top seed Mohammad Mudasir in a thrilling three-set match 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Both the players showed quality tennis and played long rallies in the match which lasted two hours and 45 minutes before Talha held his own serve before breaking his opponent in the ninth game.

Talha got a cash award Rs8,000 while Mudasir got richer by Rs5,000.

Mohammad Muzammil upset Kashan-ul-Haq in another exciting three-setter 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 to secure third position in the U-18 category.

Meanwhile, Syed Nofil Kaleem won the U-14 event by beating Muzammil of Jehania in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 to beg the gold medal along with a prize purse of Rs6,000 while Muzammil got a prize of Rs4,000. Talha Asif downed Aman Atiq 6-4, 6-2 to take third place.—Sports Reporter
