KARACHI, Jan 29: Four men were gunned down in the city in acts of targeted killing on Tuesday, police said.

They said that a man was shot dead and his associate was wounded in an armed attack on Shaheed-i-Millat Road on Tuesday.

Assailants riding a motorcycle sprayed a new Toyota Corolla car with bullets at a traffic signal near Medicare Hospital within the remit of the Ferozabad police station.

The bullets hit Rashid Ali and Mohammad Yousaf, the occupants of the car, who were rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where Rashid was pronounced dead on arrival, they added.

The police said that Rashif lived in a Balochistan city and was a businessman who had come here on a visit. Yousuf was also a businessman and a resident of Khadda Market in Lyari. Both of them were in their early 50s.

Jamshad Town SP Usman Bajwa said that it was an act of targeted killing.

He, however, said that the motive for the killing was still not clear. “We will question the family to ascertain the motive for the killing,” the area SP said.

BAC man shot dead

A member of the Bengali Action Committee (BAC) was gunned down in Korangi on Tuesday.

Police said that armed riders targeted Master Ghayasuddin, who was also on a bike, near Vita Chowrangi within the remit of the Korangi police station and rode away.

The victim was rushed to the JPMC where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police said that the victim, father of seven, was a resident of Korangi.

Labourer killed in Landhi

A young man was shot dead in Landhi on Tuesday morning, police said.

They said that Mohammad Asif, 32, was going home in Landhi 89 when assailants riding a motorcycle fired at him and fled. He sustained bullet wounds in the head and chest and died on the spot.

The body was shifted to the JPMC for a post-mortem examination.

The police said that the victim was a labourer by profession.

Man gunned down in Orangi

In Orangi Town, armed motorcyclists shot dead a young man on Tuesday.

Police said that Muhammad Imran, 35 was targeted in Orangi Town’s Sector 11-L when he was sitting at a general store.

The victim was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died during treatment.

The police were not sure about the motive for the killing and said that it was not immediately clear whether the victim was affiliated with any political party.

Wounded MQM man dies

A young man, Kamran, who sustained bullet wounds in an armed attack on Monday on Kashmir Road, died at the JPMC during treatment on Tuesday, police said.

Riaz Shaikh was killed and two brothers, Adnan and Kamran, were wounded in the Monday attack. The three victims were employed at a private company dealing with the installation of cellular phone towers.

The police said that Kamran was associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Tension gripped the Nazimabad locality when the body was brought there for funeral.
