KARACHI, Jan 5: Unseeded Faiq Azam created quite a stir when he sent top seed Rehmat Ali Ahsan packing in three sets to reach men’s singles final of the 20th Sindh Sports Board (SSB) development series ranking tennis championship at Union Club on Saturday.

Faiq won 6-4, 4-6, 10-2 over experienced opponent to reach first men’s singles ranking final of his career.

Results: Men’s singles: Semi-finals: Faiq Azam bt Rehmat Ali Ahsan 6-4, 4-6, 10-2; Robin Das bt Changez Hasan 6-3, 6-1.

Ladies singles: Quarter-finals: Aysha Mir bt Rida Khan 6-1, 6-2; Neha Khan bt Misha Humayun (walkover). Semi-final: Hania Naveed bt Wania Khan 6-1, 6-1.

Juniors’ under-17 singles: Quarter-final: Saad Mohammad Ali bt Khizer Imran 6-0, 6-3.

Boys and girls under-13 singles: Quarter-final: Mustafa Admani bt Mohammad Ahmed 1-6, 7-6(2) 10-8.

STA Challenge League: Ibrahim Iltifat bt Saad Mohammad Ali 6-2, 6-2; Ibrahim Iltifat bt Neha Khan 6-1, 6-4; Saad Mohammad Ali bt Neha Khan 6-0, 7-6; Ibrahim Iltifat bt Mohammad Raza Sawani 6-4, 6-4.
