KARACHI, Jan 3: KMC administrator Mohammad Hussain Syed has directed master plan department officials to begin preparing the city’s master plan for the year 2020 and beyond and ensure that the development works being carried out at present are done according to the current master plan.

Speaking at a meeting with master plan department officials at the civic centre on Thursday, he said the new master plan should be made more comprehensive so that the people fully benefited from it.

He said that in all big cities of the world utility services and development activities were carried out according to the master plan as all basic information about the city was available on the basis of which future plans were prepared.

He said Karachi was one of the seven biggest cities of the world which had great geographical and economic importance in the region and it was necessary to build the infrastructure of the city on modern lines and to carry out development work and future planning according to a comprehensive master plan so that the city could grow in a planned manner. He said information related to all departments be included in the master plan with the help of GIS technology.

He said information about a survey of houses on the basis of union council and departmental level be provided.
