QUETTA, Dec 29: Four policemen were shot dead in Satellite Town area of the city on Saturday night, DIG (investigation) Hamid Shakeel said.

A police patrol was on its way when gunmen on a motorbike opened fire on their vehicle, he said, adding three personnel died on the spot and another was injured.

Police and rescue teams took the bodies and the injured to hospital where the wounded constable died.

The dead were identified as ASI Ajab Khan and constables Abdul Rehman, Abdul Jabbar and Dastagir.

Soon after the incident, law-enforcement agencies personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation for attackers.
