KARACHI, Nov 24: The Jamaat-e-Islami on Sunday sounded a note of protest over the government’s decision to transfer 17 villages of Sindh to Punjab and said it would resist against the same.

JI Sindh chief Asadullah Bhutto said the move would sow the seeds of differences between Punjab and smaller provinces.

He expressed the fear that the decision might harm national integrity.

Talking to a delegation of the concerned district Ghotki, he said that a change in the geographical boundaries of the provinces without any solid reason was against national interest.

He said hatred was mounting against the government and threatened strong protest if the government did not withdraw its decision.

The Sindh Democratic Alliance (SDA) on Saturday also slammed the decision to transfer the villages.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, convener SDA Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh condemned the move and refused to accept any change in the geographical boundaries of Sindh. He said the SDA had decided to raise this matter before the higher authorities.

He expressed serious concern over the shortage of water in Sindh and urged the authorities to take practical steps for a permanent solution of this problem.—PPI
