KARACHI, Dec 25: President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday appointed Major (retd) Malik Asif Hayat as chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC).
President’s spokesman Senator Farhatullah Babar said Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf advised the president to appoint Mr Hayat as new chairman of the FPSC, a position which fell vacant on Dec 14 on the completion of tenure of Justice (retd) Rana Bhagwandas.
He said the relevant rules of the FPSC Ordinance 1977 provided that a member of the commission, including its chairman, should hold the office for a term of three years from the date on which he entered the office or till the age of 65 years.—APP
