KARACHI, Dec 25: Sixteen people were killed after gunmen opened fire on a car carrying a leader of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat in the city on Tuesday, killing four policemen and two other people.

Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqui was hit in the leg by a bullet and needed hospital treatment but his injuries were not life-threatening, sources said.

The ASWJ supporters blocked roads and burnt tyres to protest against the attack. The party called for a day of mourning on Wednesday. Transporters’ organisations said they would keep their vehicles off the road.—Dawn Report
