SHIKARPUR, Jan 12: An MMA candidate for PS-12, Khanpur Shikarpur-IV, Alauddin Pechuho, on Sunday resigned from his candidature in favour of PPP candidate Usaid Ahmed Soomro.

Mr Pechuho submitted his resignation application to the returning officer.

Now four candidates are in the run in the bye-elections for PS-12. However, the main contest will be held between National Alliance candidate Abid Hussain Jatoi and PPP candidate Usaid Ahmed Soomro.

CONTRACTORS: The office bearers of the District Contractors Association, Shikarpur, have complained against the delaying tactics in payments saying that the executing agencies were putting hindrances in carrying out the development works in accordance with the estimates.

The general secretary, Contractors Association, Waliullah Bhutto, Zulfiqar Ali Abro, Deewan Sham Lal, and Ashfaque Ahmed Unnar, while speaking at a press conference at the press club on Sunday, expressed their deep concern over the attitude of the executive district officer, Works and Services, Shikarpur, and complained that he was demanding a huge amount as bribe for making payments against the outstanding bills.

The contractors demanded of President Gen Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Jamali, and Sindh Chief Minister Mehar to look into the matter and make early payments to the contractors of Shikarpur district.
