144 imposed in Gilgit

GILGIT, Jan 12: The administration of Gilgit city has imposed Section 144 and asked the people not to misuse electricity.

The decision taken on the request of Northern Areas Power Works Department (NAPWD) had requested the administration to impose 144 CrPC on the misuse in view of the acute power shortage in the capital of Northern Areas, administration officials disclosed.

Officials said that the special task force, as part of its drive against power theft for over one month, had disconnected some 200 lines so far and arrested six thieves.

It also confiscated 250 hitters and some 150 rods and from big consumers.
