LARKANA: Telephone exchange demanded

LARKANA, Jan 12: MNA Hizbullah Bughio has demanded early installation of a 600-line telephone exchange at Bagi union council, where Moenjodaro, the Cadet College and the airport lies.

In a communication addressed to the federal minister for communication, the MNA said 476 cases of pending demand notes from the area were lying with the PTCL.

He said the general manager, STR-V , Sukkur, had proposed the installation of the Bagi exchange to substitute the 200-line Allahabad exchange.

He said the general manager, development, Southern region, Karachi, had also approved the recommendations but the assistant engineer, PTCL network-II, Islamabad, in a letter to the district Nazim, said the project would be included in the next annual development programme.

Anthology launched: Sindhi Adabi Sangat secretary general Adal Soomro has said a children’s academy will be established in the province with the object to promote literature for children.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of an anthology for children by Zulfikar Siyal, here on Sunday, he said known Sindhi writers had almost stopped writing for children.

Comrade Sobho Gianchandani, who presided over the ceremony, Anwar Pirzado, the guest of honour, and others said a child was not only a binding force between woman and man but it also served as a real source of love.

The speakers proposed “save children fund” should be established with the aim of supporting neglected children.
