KARACHI, Jan 10: The Sindh Election Tribunal, comprising Justice Ghulam Rabbani of the Sindh High Court, issued on Friday notice to the returning officer of PS-113 Karachi, MPA of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Akhtar Mehdi Bilgrami and other respondents for Jan 15, on a petition filed by MMA candidate Khawaja Sharful Islam challenging the result of PS-113.

Sharful Islam submitted that according to the compiled results from all polling stations he secured the highest number of votes.

He alleged the elections in PS-113 were rigged as, according to the compiled results, he secured 8,697 votes and his nearest rival 8,358, but in the final result, given by the returning officer, his nearest rival was declared the winner by 600 votes through rigging.

He prayed to the court to declare him the winning candidate.—PPI
