Bomb disposal vehicle

Published November 29, 2012

This is apropos of the report ‘Pindi gets robot-equipped bomb disposal vehicle’ (Nov 24).

I want to clarify the answer given by the official of the Civil Defence Organisation (CDO) as to whether the bomb disposal vehicle can help in tracking down suicide bombers.

The answer is yes, it can detect suicidal jacket containing plastic explosives, including ball bearings and metallic fillings, through X-ray machine.

I may be pointed out that the CDO’s technicians be further groomed so that they can operate bomb disposal vehicles with full command on their operations.

The same equally applies to technicians at bomb- disposal vehicles in KP.

I request the authorities concerned at federal and provincial levels to manage bomb-disposal vehicles for Sindh and Balochistan as well.
