LAHORE: Veteran film, television and theatre actor Naseeruddin Shah arrived in Lahore on Wednesday night from Delhi along with his actress wife Ratna Pathak and daughter Hiba Shah.

He was received at the airport by Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s daughter Moneeza Hashmi and her son Adeel Hashmi.

Talking to the media at the Lahore airport, Mr Shah said he had come to Pakistan on the invitation of the Faiz Foundation Trust to present a medley of plays based on short stories of famous Indian writer Ismat Chughtai.

He said he had come to Pakistan with a message of peace and love, adding that more relaxation should be made in the visa policy to increase people-to-people contact between the two countries.

“I move here without security and whenever I come to Pakistan I feel at home,” said Shah.

About the Pakistani movie Zinda Bhag in which Shah is also acting, he said the post-production work was on and he would come to Pakistan to attend the premiere of the film.

A large number of people were present at the airport to catch a glimpse of the celebrated actor.

The play Ismat Apa Ke Naam will be jointly presented by the Faiz Foundation Trust and Mumbai’s Motely Company on Dec 1 and 2.

The event is being organized to raise funds for Faiz Ghar, the Faiz Museum and the cultural centre run by the Faiz Foundation Trust in Model Town.
