LAHORE, Nov 23: Dacoits shot dead a trader and injured his daughter-in-law during a house robbery in Ravi Road area on Friday.

The police said four armed men barged in the house of Haji Sultan and looted cash and jewellery. On resistance, one of the robbers opened fire and injured Haji Sultan critically. They also shot at and injured his daughter-in-law, Shamim Bibi, when she came to his rescue.

The robbers later fled the scene with the booty. Sultan died while being taken to hospital. The police have registered a case and sent the body for autopsy.

ARRESTED: A man allegedly killed a 12-year-old boy after sexually assaulting him and dumped his body near the Ravi, Shafiqabad police said on Friday.

The police said Nauman was playing outside his house in Shafiqabad when accused Amjad took him to an unknown place where he sexually assaulted and killed him to conceal his identity.

The accused later dumped his body near the Ravi.

The police said Amjad was a former employee of the boy’s parents who had sacked him for his dubious character. The suspect took the step to take revenge from the family, the police said adding the accused was arrested after lodging a case against him. The police recovered the body and sent it to a hospital for an autopsy.

TRANSFERRED: The inspector general of Punjab police has issued transfer/posting orders of two police officers.

According to a notification, Sheikhupura Region SP Traffic Mansoor Naji has been transferred and posted as SP, Security-II, Security Division, Lahore, whereas Elite Police Force Punjab Deputy Director Mrs Rehana Kausar has been transferred and posted as Sheikhupura SP Traffic.
