In the ensuing crossfire, Ismail was shot dead while his accomplices fled the scene.

Later, Sheikhupura police arrived on the spot and took the body in their custody.

The police said Ismail was involved in dozens of heinous crimes and wanted by Faizabad, Nankana and Sheikhupura police. Further investigations are under way.
