Iqbal ignored?

Published November 16, 2012

I AM a university lecturer and had a chance of attending the launch ceremony of Benazir Income Support Programme’s new initiative of primary education in the Presidency on Nov 9.

The President presided over the meeting whereas Gordon Brown, former British prime minister, was the chief guest.

Other guests included a large number of ministers, parliamentarians, foreign diplomats, bureaucrats, media personnel and beneficiary families.

Even though the ceremony took place on Iqbal’s day, no one present there spoke about the national poet.
