FAISALABAD, Jan 6: The local trade bodies and the Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) have expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the district.

In separate statements on Monday, Traders Alliance president Muhammad Nawaz Vohra, Jewellers Association president Muhammad Ali Rana, MMA district president Sardar Zafar Husain and other representatives of these bodies said that incidents of heinous crimes had become order of the day.

Dacoits and robbers had been looting the houses and shops of local traders, industrialists and religious leaders but the police were playing the role of silent spectators.

They said that during the last couple of months scores of dacoity and robbery incidents occurred a few meters away from the police pickets. “But the policemen, instead of chasing the criminals, remained busy in receiving bribes from the traffic rules violators.”

They said that people of Faisalabad were being befooled by the local police high-ups by presenting wrong statistics about the incidents occurred during the last year.

They claimed that on the average 10 to 12 incidents of heinous crimes occured in the district daily.

Robberies: Unidentified outlaws made off with hundreds of thousands of rupees in cash, ornaments and hijacked four motorcycles, a car and a wagon in 13 different strikes in the city and its adjoining areas during the last 24 hours.

Six masked bandits barged into the house of Muhammad Yousaf in Sadiq Akbar Town in the limits of Ghulam Muhammadabad police station. They fled after looting thousands of rupees in cash, ornaments and other valuables at pistol point. The bandits also injured the area watchman for putting upresistance.

Thieves took away Rs15,000 in cash, ornaments worth Rs50,000 and electric appliances from the house of Zulfiqar Ali in the absence of him and his family members in Bismillahpur. The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Factory Area police station.

Four masked dacoits looted cash and ornaments worth Rs40,000 from the family members of Muhammad Ibrahim in Gulberg Colony.

Three highwaymen snatched thousands of rupees in cash and a wristwatch from a lady school teacher when she was on her way home from Nishatabad.

Five bandits, wearing police uniforms, deprived four villagers of their cash and wristwatches in Chak 53-GB on the Faisalabad-Samundri Road.

Thieves took away the motorcycle (FDZ-6980) of Muhammad Younas from Bilal Ganj Market and another two-wheeler of Naseer Ahmed from Lakar Mandi when the owners parked the vehicles outside their houses.

Muhammad Asif, clerk of a local yarn dealer, and Jawed Ahmed allegedly embezzled Rs15 million with the connivance of some other colleagues and escaped. Police have booked the accused clerk and started investigation.

Two accused people, Zafar Ali and Shabbir, allegedly snatched Rs150,000 from Muhammad Aftab in Chak 273-GB and sped away.

Two robbers snatched Rs38,000 from trader Maqsood Ahmed at pistol point on the Jail Road and fled.

Unknown vehicle-lifters took away the car of Muhammad Ashraf when he parked it outside his house in Tariqabad.

Three masked highwaymen snatched a two-wheeler from shopkeeper Sikandar Khan in Gulistan Colony and fled.

Five armed robbers snatched a wagon (LHE-8202) from its driver Ibrar Ahmed on the Faisalabad-Jhang Road.
